10 ways to improve your workout motivation

Do you struggle to stay motivated? Don’t worry you are not alone! I speak to people every day across social media and in the gym about staying motivated and keeping a positive mindset. The one thing I always remind them is you will never ALWAYS be motivated, so you need to learn to be DISCIPLINED! If you keep this in your head you will find your mindset will change. Your mindset is what keeps you on track and gives you the incentive to push yourself toward your goals. Here are 10 helpful tips and tricks that I personally found to help keep me motivated and on track.

1. HAVE A BIG GOAL 

Now this is a MUST! You must always have a goal, and this isn’t just fitness related, this is in any aspect of your life. If you don’t have a goal then what are you working towards? This is the most important tip that I can give anybody. If you have a big goal set in place with a date, then you are thinking about it every single day and working towards it.

2. HAVE SMALL DAILY GOALS

this is also very important. Because what you do daily results in reaching your end goal. For me being in the fitness industry, my daily goals are based around the food I eat, how much water I drink, my training sessions and most importantly my mindset. If you hit your small goals every day, you are one step closer to your end goal.

3. ALARM CLOCK (favourite song)

This is something that I feel works VERY well for me. Choose a song that makes you feel happy or motivated. The song that I wake up to every single day is one that makes me envision winning my competitions. So therefore, the second that I wake up I am feeling motivated for my day. And one more thing NEVER PRESS SNOOZE!

4. HAVE A ROUTINE

Having a routine is very important when wanting to stay motivated. I find that if I know exactly what I need to do every single day, then I am always on track and ready to do what I need to do, when I need to do it.

5. PRIORITIES 

This is a tough one, and a lot of people will find it hard to do this. Taking control of your own life and realising what is important/best for you can massively change your perspective in a positive way. It is so important to have a clear vision of what you want for yourself. If you do not prioritise the things that are best for you, you will forever be unhappy and demotivated.
If you are not doing things related to your goals. you’ll find yourself with a lack of consistency and routine. This leads to being off track or distracted from what’s important.

6. MAKE A LIST

Life gets hectic, and at times you will feel like you have way too much on your plate. I always find that my head is going 1 million miles an hour and I’m consistently thinking about little tasks. To help me declutter my mind I simply write a list! What you will find is this will allow you to see exactly what needs to be done, so you can carry on with your daily routine and implement the small tasks in between. This will stop you feeling overwhelmed and keep you on track on a daily basis.

7. MAKE A VISION BOARD

Now I know you have heard this one before. I had read it 10000 times before I actually decided to sit down and make one, and let me tell you it ACTUALLY works. Instead of me using my future “wants” on my vision board, I put pictures that INSPIRE me. So that each morning when I woke up the 1st thing I would see at the end of my bed was a bunch of pictures/people/quotes, that made me want to get up and be the best version of myself daily.

8. CHANGE YOUR CIRCUMSTANCE

If you have anything in your life that is holding you back/not making YOU happy….CHANGE IT. Have you ever felt that if one thing is off, then you your whole life is off? Well, picture not having that problem. How much better would your life would be? I know for myself when I wasn’t happy in my relationship, I really had to think to myself, is this good for me? Am I happy? Is the benefiting me in anyway? The answer was NO, and the second that changed, my life changed. I became more focused, driven and felt a new sense of power. This is YOUR life and you must do what is best for you, because if you let anything/anyone hold you back, you will never succeed.

9. SELF CARE

In the midst of pushing to be the best version of you, you can’t forget to do the things that make you feel good about yourself physically and mentally. Yes the most important thing to staying motivated is working towards your goal, but you still need to take some YOU time. Whether this is getting your nails or hair done, getting a massage, reading a book, whatever it may be, make sure you take some time to clear your head and soothe your soul. Remember, your mindset is what keeps you going so make sure you are always doing things to make you happy.

10. VISUALISE

The main thing that kept me going through the demotivated/hard times was visualising my results. You need to see yourself clearly for what you want and who you want to be. Only you know how you want to feel or how badly you want to succeed. It doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks about you or what you want in life, at the end of the day YOU are in control of your of life and decisions you make. Only YOU will get those results. So keep your head in the game, Believe in yourself and push every single day to be the best version of yourself. So long as you keep motivated/disciplined you will feel so empowered and mentally strong.
